OpsRamp is an IT operations management platform that helps enterprises monitor, manage, and automate their IT infrastructure. The onboarding process includes creating a client account, installing an agent, configuring monitors, and viewing alerts and dashboards.

Log in to OpsRamp

  1. In your browser, navigate to: https://{my-organization}.app.opsramp.com
  2. Enter your login credentials for an account provisioned with Partner Administrator role.
  3. Click LOG IN

Understand Accounts in OpsRamp

OpsRamp uses a multi-tenant model, which means there are different types of accounts:

  • Partner Account: This is the top-level account used by Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and large organizations. It allows you to create and manage multiple client accounts.

  • Client Account: A client account is a sub-account under the partner account. Each client account represents an individual organization, business unit, or customer environment.

Purpose of Client Account

  • Separates monitoring and management for different customers or business units.
  • Enables role-based access control and permissions specific to each client.
  • Ensures data segregation and security.

Create Client Account

  1. Go to Setup > Accounts > Clients.
  2. Click +Add to add a new client.
  3. Enter the required details:

CountrySelect the country where the client is located. The country selection may affect time zones, regional settings, and compliance considerations.United States, India, or Germany.
Time ZoneChoose the appropriate time zone based on the client’s location. This setting is critical to ensure accurate monitoring schedules, alert timings, and event logging.EST, GMT and IST
  1. In the Auto Monitoring Resources section, select No to disable auto-monitoring (recommended for manual configuration).
  2. Click the Next.
  3. Click Finish, keeping the default selection for Product Package.

The CLIENT DETAILS page displays basic information and configuration settings for your newly-created client.

Install OpsRamp Agent

The OpsRamp agent is a lightweight software component installed on resources (e.g., servers, virtual machines) to collect and send monitoring data, alerts, and logs to the OpsRamp platform.

The OpsRamp Agent:

  • Enables deep monitoring of system performance, health, and availability.
  • Allows remote execution of scripts and remediation actions.
  • Provides secure communication between managed resources and OpsRamp.

  1. Go to SetupAccountIntegrations.
  2. To install OpsRamp Agent based on your operating system, check the following pages:
  3. Go to Infrastructure > Resources > Server to verify that the agent is installed. The server availability status is Undefined because an availability monitors is not yet assigned for your server.

Set up Monitoring

Understanding Monitors and Templates

OpsRamp uses monitoring templates to apply standardized monitoring configurations to resources. These templates define what metrics and thresholds will be monitored.

View Dashboards

OpsRamp provides dashboards to visualize resource health and alerts.

  1. Go to DashboardsDashboards 2.0

The default dashboard for your client shows the inventory and availability widgets for your server.

View Alerts

  1. Power off your server instance to simulate an alert condition and wait for five minutes.
  2. Go to Command CenterAlerts to view the alert list.

An alert with status Critical and subject OpsRamp agent is offline indicates monitoring of your server availability. Click refresh to update the alert list.

  1. Power on your server instance. The alert status for your server should changes from Critical to OK.
